• Do this instead: Spend 15–20 minutes on the website and LinkedIn. Note one thing you genuinely like and mention it.

2) Being Too Modest

Humility is great — but if you don’t describe achievements, they may assume you don’t have many.

Example: “Our website traffic dropped 30%. I led a 3-person content reboot; after 3 months, traffic grew 60%.”

3) Over-Rehearsing English Answers

Memorized speeches sound stiff. Interviewers want a conversation.

• Do this instead: Practice ideas, not scripts. Record yourself, aim for clear, natural delivery, and don’t fear minor grammar slips.

4) Forgetting the Tech Check

Poor audio, weak internet, or noisy backgrounds can sink a great interview.

• Do this instead: Test mic/camera, choose a quiet, well-lit spot, and keep a phone hotspot as backup.

5) Not Asking Questions at the End

“Do you have any questions?” isn’t politeness — it tests curiosity and judgment.

• Ask things like:
  • “What’s the biggest challenge the team is facing right now?”
  • “How do you collaborate across time zones?”
  • “What would success look like in the first 90 days?”

6) Not Reading Cultural Cues

Over-formality or very quiet delivery can be read as low confidence.

• Do this instead: Look at the camera, smile lightly, keep your tone conversational and warm.

7) Not Clarifying Availability

Most roles need a few overlapping hours with the U.S. team.

• Do this instead: Proactively state overlap you can offer.

Example: “I’m in Vietnam but comfortable working partial U.S. hours — e.g., 8 AM–12 PM Pacific.”

5) Không Đặt Câu Hỏi Cuối Buổi

• Câu hỏi gợi ý:
  • “Thách thức lớn nhất của team hiện tại là gì ạ?”
  • “Team phối hợp qua múi giờ thế nào?”
  • “Thành công 90 ngày đầu trông như thế nào?”

6) Không Hiểu Rõ Khác Biệt Văn Hóa

• Khắc phục: Nhìn camera khi nói, mỉm cười nhẹ, giữ giọng tự nhiên, thân thiện.

7) Không Nói Rõ Giờ Chồng Múi

• Khắc phục: Chủ động nêu khung giờ làm việc chồng múi với Mỹ.

Ví dụ: “Em ở Việt Nam nhưng linh hoạt 8:00–12:00 giờ Pacific để phối hợp với team.”
